A mixed-use redevelopment of the former Real World house

REBLD transformed the former MTV Real World House in Wicker Park into eight luxury rental apartments with a brand new commercial space at ground level.

The Project

At this mix-used development located in the heart of Wicker Park, REBLD completely gutted the former MTV Real World house in to eight luxury rentals and a ground-level commercial space. The project included a major structural upgrade by "lowering" the formerly raised first floor back to ground level while adding new staircases and an elevator. The finished product, which took a quick eight months, features an "architectural" common area design, stunning third-floor skylights, and custom unit designs steps away from one of the most vibrant intersections in town.

A full gut transformation of a dead basement into a beautiful 2 bedroom unit

As part of Chicago's expanding ADU program, REBLD relocated mechanicals, created new masonry openings, and coordinated heavy excavation and structural upgrades in an occupied building to turn a dead basement into a habitable 8th unit with modern amenities.

REBLD walked the building and advised on the construction strategy and cost before the client made the investment. What followed was a strategic plan that aligned with leasing goals: for REBLD to deliver the first model unit by March 8. The result? All seven units rented by May 1 — at full asking price.
