A full gut transformation of a dead basement into a beautiful 2 bedroom unit
As part of Chicago's expanding ADU program, REBLD relocated mechanicals, created new masonry openings, and coordinated heavy excavation and structural upgrades in an occupied building to turn a dead basement into a habitable 8th unit with modern amenities.
The Project
The REBLD team excavated the basement to gain additional ceiling height, made structural upgrades that allowed the ADU common areas to be unobstructed, added windows, relocated the venting through occupied units above while adding in-unit laundry to for current tenants.
REBLD organized the trades efficiently and made the upgrades as seamlessly as possible with very little disruption to the existing tenants in the building - while also upgrading two vintage units along the way. A true value-add.

A full-scale, seven-unit multifamily renovation driven by a strategic plan
REBLD walked the building and advised on the construction strategy and cost before the client made the investment. What followed was a strategic plan that aligned with leasing goals: for REBLD to deliver the first model unit by March 8. The result? All seven units rented by May 1 — at full asking price.
